Do you have problems expressing yourself? Do you lie about small things? Maybe you're kind of shy, socially anxious or even a little bit too loud and aggressive. These are all signs that you may have a blocked throat chakra. Throat chakra affirmations are a powerful tool to help unblock, open and heal this centre for better expression. Let's dive into how this all works;

What are the Chakras?

Each of us have 7 main energy centres of the body. These energy centres are known as the 7 chakras. Each of the chakras have a certain location on the body and are responsible for regulating specific emotions.

When the chakras are balanced they allow energy to effortlessly flow through the body. When they're blocked, it can wreak havoc on your mental, physical and spiritual health and is generally a sign that there is trauma being stored in the mental and physical body.

Affirmations are a powerful tool to identify where you're holding these blockages and work through the emotions associated with them. If you're looking to practice throat chakra affirmations and haven't done so for the root, sacral, solar plexus or heart chakra first, we recommend you go back and start with the root. Working through the issues relating to the first four chakras is integral to opening the throat chakra and allowing yourself to communicate effectively.

What is the Throat Chakra?

The throat chakra is the fifth chakra and is located at the centre of the neck. It's positioned near the group of muscles that are responsible for breathing, swallowing and speech, so it's no surprise that this chakra regulates expression, communication and authenticity.

Someone with an open throat chakra would communicate really easily, feel comfortable in social settings, express themselves clearly and always remain true to themselves. Unfortunately for many of us we struggle with either under-expressing ourself or over-expressing ourselves which leads to a blocked throat chakra.

Symptoms of a Blocked Throat Chakra

If your throat chakra is blocked you could be suffering from a number of both emotional and physical symptoms. Emotional symptoms of a blocked throat chakra generally manifest in one of two ways, either you're over expressive or under expressive.

Over-expressive people tend to be in your face, loud, opinionated and terrible at listening (we all know a couple of people like this). Under-expressive people tend to be shy, find it really difficult to voice their opinions and suffer from social anxiety.

You could potentially be suffering from one or multiple symptoms of a blocked throat chakra. The important thing here is that you've identified the issues. Now all you have to do is work on this blockage with affirmations.

Why Should I Use Throat Chakra Affirmations?

Using throat chakra affirmations is a great way to start to reprogram the subconscious mind. Our subconscious minds are on a constant loop. We think around 90% of the same thoughts today as we did yesterday.

So, if you're a nervous or shy person, your subconscious mind will continue to reiterate to you to be nervous and shy. This is really hard to change when you're mind is on auto-pilot and you don't even realise that you're thinking this way.

Once you've identified the problem, however, practicing positive throat chakra affirmations will help to reprogram these negative and self limiting subconscious beliefs. When you practice throat chakra affirmations you are sending new signals to the brain and creating new neural pathways. This is reprogramming the subconscious mind to shift your self-limiting beliefs into positive ones.

How to Practice Throat Chakra Affirmations

You can practice your throat chakra affirmations either inside your head or out loud. Practicing in a quiet space when you have a little time to yourself is best, so that you can focus on the words and emotion.

To enhance your chakra affirmation practice we recommend attaching a feeling to your affirmation. Don't just say the words “I speak my truth, feel the words as deeply as you can. Think to yourself who am I when I speak my truth? Who am I being honest with? How does it feel to let the truth out? Who am I now that I live in my truth?

Try to feel these emotions as if the words were already true. Matching the words of your affirmation with an elevated emotion will help to strengthen the connection to the subconscious mind and create powerful shifts in your life.
